Can you run?    Can you cycle?    Can you swim 50 metres?

Why not join Britain’s fastest growing sport for juniors – triathlon! From the year you turn 8 through to the year you turn 18, there’s a world of fun and personal achievement awaiting you in the Juniors at Grangemouth Triathlon Club .

You don’t need to have done it before – we’ll show you how and get you ready for your first race. We’ll let you know when races are on and which ones will be suitable for you. There’s an extensive calendar of events all over Scotland throughout the year.

You don’t need a big fancy racing bike – a good quality, road-worthy bike with good gearing and decent brakes is all you’ll need to begin. You WILL need a proper bike helmet – you don’t get to touch your bike without a properly fitted and secured helmet.

You do need to be able to swim – 50m freestyle  at a good pace is enough to get you started.

You do need goggles, a swim suit and a pair of running shoes – not all ‘trainers’ sold these days are good for running in.  For races  males will need a T-Shirt to wear for the bike and run legs – there’s no bare chests allowed.

You do need to tell us a bit about your health. We’ll need to know if you have some medical conditions that might affect your breathing or heart rate or such like. It won’t necessarily stop you from taking part. Grangemouth Triathlon Club  is a club for everyone.

You should consider joining Triathlon Scotland  (http://www.triathlonscotland.org/)  if you want to race competitively. Youth membership is £10 per year and includes your race licensing for the year and worldwide race insurance.

Our junior sessions are from 9am-11am at Grangemouth High School. The first hour is swim training and the second is run training. Bike training will take the place of run training periodically. Level 2 Triathlon Coach Lee Reid is our Head Junior Coach. Lee is affiliated to the sport’s governing body - Triathlon Scotland and has undergone all necessary checks for working with young people.

Membership fees for Juniors are just £10 per year and the monthly training cost is £7.50.
